Red Hot Confidence

Color and fashion Color Psychology Color Theory Red Meaning

Red is a “pure” color; no other combination of colors can create it. Red can be radical, extreme, sassy, and sexy. Red is the color of the Root Chakra which is responsible for your sense of safety and security.

In some cultures, red represents luck and happiness. It can also remind us of romantic love and physical passion. Studies have shown that red is the true color of attraction for both men and women. Although it is associated with action it can also indicate danger or caution and signify “stop”. Red can speed up our heart rate and elevate our body temperature which makes us more sensitive to our environment. Simply put, red is a physical stimulant.

When you wear red, it lets people know you feel confident and ready for whatever is coming your way. If you are like me, you love red, but you don’t wear a lot of it. My mom looked great in red lipstick and often wore red nail polish but that doesn’t work for everybody. So, let’s just say for a minute you want to feel like you are wearing red (confident, strong, passionate) without actually wearing the color red. What thing(s) do you have in your closet that make you feel confident, strong, and/or passionate? Maybe it’s a bold piece of jewelry or a pair of boots or a luxurious silk blouse. The psychology of colors and their meanings can also translate to the energy of that color. So, while some people might wear bodycon dresses to feel sexy, other people might wear flowy chiffon, lace, or silk.

So, the next time you get dressed, take a moment to notice how a garment or an accessory makes you FEEL.Does what you wear represent you as your authentic self or are you dressing yourself in things that are trendy but don’t really fit who you are? I’ve often said if the trend goes back to wearing the tightly fitted bodices of the 50’s then I won’t be trending :). I simply can’t imagine feeling like myself if I am wearing something restrictive, on the other hand, I know lots of people that don’t feel restricted in a tight bodice. It’s really all about dressing for YOUR inner essence. There is only one you, and I for one, want to encourage you to be your own unique and beautiful self.

XO-

Mel
