Blue the color of honesty and loyalty

Ahhhhh, who doesn’t love blue? Like your true-blue best friend, it’s dependable, constant and ever faithful. Of all the colors in the spectrum blue is the coolest in temperature and temperament, creating a feeling of calm and relaxation, which may be why it is the most popular color worldwide. It is yet another color that makes friends with all the other colors. I can’t think of another color that doesn’t go with some shade of blue.

Blue conveys a sense of trust and strength, which is why 1/3 of the world’s branding images are blue. Dark blues represents mental focus and clarity while lighter blues are all about creative thought and serenity. If you want to convey knowledge and authority wear navy to your next interview or speaking engagement. Navy is a wonderful alternative to black as it conveys strength but doesn’t have the hard edge of black. If you want to appear more approachable and collaborative, wear a lighter blue like periwinkle or sky blue.

Spiritually, blue is believed to be the color of inspiration, truth, and devotion. In some cultures, it signifies luck. Blue is the color of our throat chakra which is all about self-expression and speech. Wearing colors that represent our chakra colors will help balance us. So, if you are feeling like you aren’t being heard, wear a blue scarf around your neck for support.

There are a couple of cautionary side effects to blue. Too much can lead to depression (feeling blue) so when using it in your home, stay away from painting an entire room navy blue. Blue is also known to be one of the least appetizing colors. Think about the last time you saw blue in your food, it was probably past the expiration date. Because of this, blue acts as an appetite suppressant and some recommend eating off a blue plate to curb your appetite.

When was the last time you gazed at a clear blue sky or dipped your feet in the deep blue ocean? It’s easy to see how blue can make us smile and keep us calm. So, whether your favorite blues are light and bright or dark and mysterious you will be making a statement the next time you wear them.

XO-

Mel
